As we celebrated Independence Day, many of us reflected on the extraordinary freedoms and opportunities we enjoy as Americans. The Fourth of July reminds us that our nation was founded by courageous men who pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor in pursuit of liberty. Their legacy continues to inspire each new generation.

No one appreciated that history more than our friend, former Andersen Partner Ed Maier, who died on June 20, 2026. Ed had a deep love for our country and often shared stories about the signers of the Declaration of Independence, reminding us that America's founding was shaped by ordinary individuals who demonstrated extraordinary courage, faith, and conviction.

Those same qualities, integrity, service, and character—are values that resonate with all of us who were fortunate enough to call Arthur Andersen home. They are the principles that continue to unite our alumni community.

Ed was not only a devoted supporter of the Andersen Alumni Association, but also a trusted friend. He cared deeply about people and about preserving the relationships that made our Andersen experience so meaningful.

The words from Matthew 25 seem especially fitting:

"Well done, good and faithful servant."

I have no doubt those were the words that welcomed Ed home.

As you read the tribute to Ed in this issue, I hope you'll reflect on those who shaped your own Andersen journey. Our greatest legacy is not found in the engagements we completed or the titles we held, but in the lives, we touched, the friendships we forged, and the values we chose to uphold.

As we celebrate our nation's independence and remember our friend Ed Maier, may we continue to Think Straight. Talk Straight. May we honor both our country and our Andersen heritage by living lives marked by integrity, service, and faith.

Warm regards,

Warren
